Naples Faience Figure

This is a very rare large figurine made by Naples (Real Fabbrica Ferdinandea) around 1775. The Napoli factory was founded by Ferdinand IV in 1771 and made mostly softpaste at first and later went to soft and hard paste porcelain and looked similar to Capodimonte porcelain. There are a few pieces of fine faience or stoneware known as well of which this is one. The factory was around until 1806 when the French occupied it and after that the molds, etc. were sold all over the place. The figurine is made of a superb fine stoneware and is of a lady sculptor with a half finished bust on a pedestal by her side. She is very well modeled so well in fact she looks almost alive. The fold of the clothing are amazingly well done. The piece is in great condition for the age and fragile nature. She is missing her left hand with presumably a chisel in it and her right hand is missing the tip of a hammer (I am guessing). A few small and unimportant paint chips but otherwise just great! The figurine is absolutely stunning! It is unmarked but that is not rare. The base is quite typical as are the colors. The piece is rather large being 12 inches tall, 6.5 inches wide and 4.25 inches deep. Please email me for more information or other pictures.
