Moabit Eisenach Scenic Cup & Saucer

This is a nice cup and saucer set made by Moabit in the second half of the 19th century. Moabit was located in Berlin and was founded by M. Schumann and son around 1835 and lasted until about 1913. The cup has a superb scene on the front of the city of Eisenach which is located in the Thuringia region of Germany and I think even had its own porcelain factory for a short while. The scene is of the town with the famous Wartburg castle on top of the hill and the city below in a nice landscape surrounding. The name of the scene is written in the left bottom corner as shown. The scene is surrounded by a gold trim with more gold trim to the top and bottom of the cup as well as the handle. The saucer has a gold ring around the well and gold trim to the edge. A nice example with a nice topographical scene by a maker one does not see very often. The set is in good condition with just some wear to the gilding as shown. The cup is marked underneath with the eagle mark over the letters SPM in under glaze blue. The saucer has a similar mark with the eagle wings upwards instead of downwards as well as an impressed letter B and some numbers as shown. The cup is 3.25 inches tall and 3.875 inches in diameter. The saucer is 1 inch tall with a diameter of 6.25 inches. A very nice size set with a great scene to it! Please email me for more information or photos.
