Metzler & Ortloff Walter Bosse Singer Figurine

This is a fun porcelain figurine made by Metzler & Ortloff in the late 1920's. Metzler & Ortloff was founded originally around 1873 and finally closed its doors in 1976. This figure was designed and produced during their best period by the famous Walter Bosse who worked for them from 1926 until 1930. He made about 200 different figures though most are dogs or such things and very few more intricate and larger pieces. This figurine is of a gentleman singer from a group of musicians he designed. I call him Elvis as he reminds me of him :) The piece is quite typical of his work which makes him so collectable. The figure is modeled in the style of the period - very Art Deco and the hand paintings fits into that period as well. Nice little flowers on the base and a gold trim to the edge. His work is just fun to look at which is one of the reasons his work is so popular even today! It just makes you smile. The figurine is in perfect condition with a minor touch of wear to the gold trim along the base. The piece is marked underneath with the green MO mork under a crown in a circle as well as an impressed four digit model number though I cannot make it out - 4684 maybe? The figurine is about 3.5 inches tall, 1.875 inches wide and about 2.5 inches long. Please email me for more information or photos.
