Watteau Scene Quatrefoil Cup & Saucer

This is a really nice cup and saucer made by Meissen in the 19th century . Both pieces have four lobes in a style called quatrefoil and are hand painted with a Watteau style scene. The saucer has it in the center while the cup has it on the front with a polychrome floral scene on white ground on the back side. The scenes are surrounded by some fancy gold trim with the rest of the pieces having a deep cobalt blue ground color and some more fancy gold trim to the rim as well as to the outside rim of the saucer and inside rim of the cup. Intertwined handle with a bit of gold trim to the cup. As fancy as they get from this period! That blue and gold combination has to be among the very best in the porcelain world and having a Watteau scene is the best of the best in this design. Much less common than flowers. The set looks amazing. They are in perfect condition which is always nice and is marked with the under glaze blue crossed swords mark underneath as well as the usual impressed number as shown. The saucer is 1.375 inches tall, 5.25 inches wide and just over 4.5 inches deep and the cup is 2.5 inches tall, just over 2.625 inches wide plus 0.75 inches for the handle sticking out and 2.375 inches deep.
