Very Nice 1740 Woodcut Flowers Plate

This is a nice early plate made by Meissen in about 1740. A nicely shaped piece with a relief design to the rim broken up by four small flower panels, a brown trim to the edge as well as some single flowers to the well that are of top quality but the best part is the floral arrangement in the center including a superb tulip and two roses with their leaves. Still in the woodcut style of the period before the Deutsche Blumen took hold. No comparison if you ask me - they are just amazing and the paste of the porcelain on this piece is my favorite as well - much whiter than later pieces. The plate is in superb condition with some minor wear as shown. It displays perfectly! The plate is marked with the under glaze blue crossed swords mark on the underside as well as an impressed number as shown. The piece is 1.25 inches tall and 9.5 inches in diameter. I have a matching plate from the same set as well if anyone is interested in a pair! Please email me for more information or other pictures.

Price is $699
