Superb Teniers Scenes Cup & Saucer

This is a great cup and saucer made by Meissen in about 1740. Both are hand painted with two superb scenes after Teniers showing people in daily life with a little black trim to the underside of the scenes, some flowers, a great bird scene to the center of the saucer and lots of nice relief design to the paste. Brown trim to the saucer edge, nice handle to the cup with gold trim and the inside of the cup is fully gilded which is a great touch. The saucer has a scene of a man riding his horse past a milland another of a man trimming some wood pieces down with an axe. The cup has a a couple sitting on half a barrel with a stool nearby in one scene and another of a gentleman walking by two other people. I love these old scenes because they show life as it was back then - a snapshot of history especially since the didn't have cameras yet. The set is in great condition with a tiny bit of wear mostly to the gilding on the rim of the cup. The cup is 1.875 inches tall and has a diameter of 3.25 inches. The saucer is just over 1 inch tall and 5 inches in diameter. Both are marked with the underglaze blue crossed swords mark underneath as shown. The cup has a gold 14. underneath the mark and the saucer an impressed 25. Please email me for more information or other pictures.
