Scenic & Sterling Fork

This is a superb fork with the porcelain handle made by Meissen in about the 18th century and the silver tines being a replacement from London in 1858 though the exact Silversmith seems to be unidentified. The handle is nicely shaped with a molded scroll pattern to the paste and a hunting scene hand painted on either side surrounded by colored scrolls. A hand painted flower under each scene. Sterling silver end capand ferrule between the porcelain and the blade both of which seem to be original to the porcelain piece. The fork part was replaced and is nicely hallmarked as shown. The piece is in superb condition with just some oxidation to the silver. It came with a knife that is very similar in a very beat up case but the knife porcelain part is slightly different so I am offering them separately but if anyone would like them as a set that is certainly possible and they look great together when displayed. The fork is 7.875 inches long of which 3.25 inches is the visible porcelain handle and 3.5 inches the silver form part. The porcelain is not marked or shall we say visibly marked since it would be hidden by the ferrule which is normal but it is definitely made by Meissen during this period. Please email me for more information or other pictures.
