Amazing Double Handled Beaker

This is an amazing and very early double handled blue ground beaker cup and saucer made by Meissen in about 1735. Both pieces are hand painted with superb harbor type scenes - one on the saucer and two to the cup as well as this superb mottled blue ground color and some of the nicest gilding you can find by them. The scenes painted by Christian Friedrich Herold one of the top painter's of this period. Each scene is surrounded by elaborate gold scrolling that even includes animals like a dog, rabbit and two birds on the cup and a monkey and a bird on the saucer. The beaker has double scroll type handles with a bit of gold trim to them. The saucer has the famous Böttger luster panels the animals / flowers sit on top of. More gold trim to the inside edges as shown. Hard to describe something this elaborate and fancy - the set is stunning for sure! The cup is absolutely perfect, the saucer has some extremely minor wear to the center though it is about as perfect as you can find in that respect but has a small rim chip that would be an easy fix. It displays superbly as is. Some manufacturing flaws normal to these early pieces. The cup is 2.875 inches tall and has a diameter of 2.75 inches. The saucer 1 inch tall and has a diameter of 4.75 inches. Each piece is marked with the under glaze blue crossed swords mark from this period underneath. No numbers yet as they started being used later. Please email me for more information or other pictures.
