Sowing Farmer

This is a great early figurine made by Meissen in about 1750. He was modeled by Peter Reinicke right when he was made so this is the earliest version one can own! It is of a farmer sowing seeds - a very well modeled piece with lots of handpainted detail! The figurine is in great condition with the tips of his fingers missing on the sowing hand some chips to his hat and a chip in the back to one end of the knot of the cloth holding the seeds. One leaf is chipped as well. So all in all about as good as it gets for these early pieces! Displays superbly and would be an easy and cheap fix to bring him back to perfection if need be! The figurine is 4.5 inches tall and he is unmarked which is very normal on these early Meissen figurines! Flat base underneath with the airhole typical of these early pieces.
