Puce Scale & Floral Open Salt Dish

This is a really nice large master open salt dish made by Meissen in the mid 18th century. A really nice example in terms of shape and not one I have seen before. It has a large obal shaped top with a fancy rim design that has a hand painted puce scale trim to the inside with a gold trm to the edge and to the lower part of the puce scale design from which four floral arrangements jut into the bowl part. The outside of the bowl has a floral arrangement to the front and back as well as a smaller single flower to either side and it sits on a nicely shaped foot with a relief design to it, some gold trim and a small flower to the front and back. Quite the fancy little piece and it looks stunning! The piece is marked with the under glaze blue crossed swords mark as well as a number 13 in puce as the painter's mark as shown. No impressed number yet so a nice early piece. The salt dish is 2.375 inches tall, 3.875 inches wide and 2.5 inches deep. It is in superb condition with a touch of wear to the gilding mainly to the bottom and top edge. It displays wonderfully! Just a superb piece! Please email me for more information or other pictures.
