Polychrome Floral One Ended Egg Cup

This is a very rare egg cup made by Meissen during the 18th century during the Marcolini period. I finally found another one described as a double egg cup or double ended eggcup at an auction in Germany which was a long time ago. A double-ended one meant an egg could be eaten upright, as in France and the other Romance countries, or lying horizontally, popular in Germany and the Netherlands in the 18th century. Only a handful of double ended pieces were created for the Royal Court at Dresden. So definitely a real treat :) It is hand painted with strewn flowers all around the outside, some nice gold trim as well as a polychrome floral arrangement to the rop inside as shown. A very rare shape to find! The eggcup is in superb condition! About as nice as anyone can hope for! The piece is 2.25 inches tall, 2.375 inches wide and 1.75 inches deep. The base has a diameter of 1.75 inches. It is marked underneath with the blue crossed swords mark with a star underneath as well as a blue 4. and another blue dot. Please email me for more information or other pictures.

Price is $2749
