Smaller Penitent Magdalene Plaque

This is a superb plaque made by Meissen in the late 19th or possibly early 20th century. It is hand painted with a really nicely done scene of a semi nude lady with one breast exposed wearing a blue robe while lying on the ground reading a book that is leaning on a fallen over skull - a rendition of the penitent Magdalene after Correggio . I have owned and seen this scene on plaques by many different makers but only one other time by Meissen which I also own. The difference in quality to other makers always amazes me they are just that good. This piece here is a little smaller than the other one I own and could use a frame. This scene is stunning both in detail and color! The plaque is in perfect condition with some minor wear along the very edge which is typical for plaques since they usually sit in frames. The piece is just under 5 inches by 3.75 inches. It is marked with the blue crossed swords mark as well as the usual impressed numbers and letters as shown. Truly a superb and elegant piece! Please email me for more information or photos.
