Miner Scene Saucer

This is a rare early saucer made by Meissen in about 1745. It is superbly hand painted with a scene that is highly collectible - a Saxon miner ( Bergleute ) and his lady in a landscape surrounding. Mining scenes are rare on Meissen porcelain and when they do come up they are gone just as fast as the appeared since people love them. The miner is dressed in his typical outfit with the hat that has the gold AR for Augustus Rex on it while the lady is wearing a fancy outfit. Nice landscape surrounding including two tall trees in the background, some rocks and greenery. The rim has some fancy gilding to it as shown and the foot ring has a gold ring around it. The saucer is in perfect condition! The piece is 1 inch tall and has a diameter of 4.75 inches. It is marked underneath with the under glaze blue crossed swords mark, a gold S. as well as an impressed number 12 I believe. Please email me for more information or other pictures.

Price is $749
