Mid 18thC Set of 6 Fruit Knives

This is a rare set of six knives made by Meissen in about 1740. Smaller in size so likely for butter or fruit. The handles are in the pistol grip shape with a basket weave design to the ends, some gold trim and some really nice flowers. Each knife has a larger floral arrangement as well as lots of small single flowers scattered about. The metal parts are made of steel and original to the period I believe. They are marked with an impressed Boucher a Paris, one is unmarked and one has Vallon impressed on the blade. The ferrules are probably silver which was usually the case. The metal part goes into the handle and there is a spot coming out on the other end to fasten it in place which was only done on early pieces. Most of the knives are missing that little metal end disk to fill the tiny hole! The set is in superb condition with some minor wear, one handle has a firing crack under the glaze and one has two sections near the ferrule that are damaged - I don't think the porcelain ever chipped but there are cracks as shown. Each knife is 7.625 inches long of which 3.125 inches is the length of the visible porcelain handle. The porcelain is not marked or shall we say visibly marked since it would be hidden by the ferrule which is normal but it is definitely made by Meissen. It is rare to find a set of knives in their original box. The box is not in the best of shape anymore but it is still nice to have it! Please email me for more information or other pictures.
