Mid 18thC Floral Plate w/Fun Flaw

This is a great porcelain plate made by Meissen in about 1750. It is hand painted with a very good quality flower arrangement on the side of the well with some smaller single flowers scattered about the rest of the plate. The flowers are already in the Deutsche Blumen style but still show some influence of the early woodcut style so it's a nice early example! Basket weave design to the rim with a gold trim to the nicely shaped edge. The plate is in great condition with some wear as shown but no chips, etc. There is a manufacturing flaw on the back which was covered with a lily of the valley leaf and flower - the larger such cover up I have seen in my years of collecting Meissen. really quite nice. A piece of the green paint of the leaf has flaked off over time. The plate is 1.375 inches tall and 9.375 inches in diameter. Marked underneath with the underglaze blue crossed swords as well as an impressed number 140. Please email me for more information or other pictures.

Price is $249
