Merchant Scene Saucer

This is a really nice saucer made by Meissen in about 1740. The dish is hand painted with superb harbor / merchant type scene in the center surrounded by a fancy black and gold trim typical of this early period. The scene includes a pair of merchants doing business in the forefront with a building to the right and more people in the background. A ship on the water in the distance and birds in the sky. A really nice example of this type of design! The area around the gold trim has a couple of nice flowers to it and the edge another fancy gold trim. Gold trim around the foot ring which is always a sure sign of top quality! The saucer is in superb condition - as nice as they come with the most minor of wear which is to be expected after going on close to 300 years. What looks to be a chip to the foot ring is in fact glazed over and from when it was made! The saucer 1.125 inches tall and has a diameter of 5.125 inches. The piece is marked underneath with the under glaze blue crossed swords mark from this period as shown as well as an impresed number and a gilder's mark.
