Mayer Hausmalerei Cup & Saucer

This is an early teabowl shaped cup and saucer set made by Meissen around 1750 and decorated by the famous Franz Ferdinand Mayer in Pressnitz , Bohemia . One could easily think it was painted by Ferner but these red outlines flowers are usually associated with Mayer. He was active from about 1745 until 1776 and his items are rare and highly collectable. The cup has the under glaze blue rock and bird pattern to it painted by Meissen with the gilding, the red trim and polychrome fowers added at the Hausmaler shop of Mayer. A really nice looking set and quite rare. This is a nice example of his work in the typical colors and style. The cup & saucer are in great condition with just a touch of wear to the gilding. The Koeppchen cup is 1.75 inches tall and 3.125 inches in diameter. The saucer is 1 inch tall with a diameter of 5.125 inches. Both pieces are marked with the under glaze blue crossed swords mark underneath as shown from about 1745-50 and an impressed number. Each also has a blue painter's mark - and S. on the cup and W on the saucer. Please email me for more information or other pictures.
