1735 Huge Serving Spoon

This is a rare large serving spoon ( Vorlegelöffel) made by Meissen in about 1735. A rare early survivor. These rarely ever show up epecially this nice and early. The spoon has a ncie shape to it and is hand painted with woodcut style flowers. A nice arrangement in the bowl part with a tiny small flower as well, a small flower in the middle of the handle and another at the end. The underside bowl has an amzing rose painted on it and there are two more small flowers along the handle. The side of the handle towards the end has a green, red and yellow design painted on it where there would have been firing supports during the first firing. Typical of this size spoon! A top notch example and amazing that it survived all these years. The piece is in superb condition with just the tiniest of nibbles to the edge of the bowl as shown. Hard to find so it displays perfectly! The piece is not marked but that is normal on pieces like this from this period and is definitely an early Meissen example. The spoon is 12.25 inches long. The bowl is 4.625 inches long, 2.75 inches wide and 1.125 inches deep. Please email me for more information or other pictures.
