1730's Kakiemon Dish

This is an early 18th century Meissen dish dating to about 1730. This is probably a spoon dish. It is handpainted with one of the most famous designs called the Flying Squirrel or Red Fox pattern based on the Kakiemon designs from Japan. Nice cross hatch type rim decor called the Sulkowski design in relief. A superb little dish that is 1.5 inches tall, 7.25 inches wide and 5.375 inches deep. It is marked underneath with the early Meissen blue crossed swords underglaze with the hitls being made up of big dots. The dish is in perfect condition for the age with a bit of wear to the brown trim on the edge. The porcelain of this period is much whiter than that of any other period and the colors just amazing. An interesting thing is that if you hold the piece at an angle the glaze around the blue and green decoration is edged a bit while that around the red color is just perfect. Must have still had issues with the colors taking?? I did get a good picture of that. Please email me for more information or other pictures.
