Kakiemon Crane Design Plate

This is an early 18th century Meissen plate dating to about 1735 - definitely pre 1740 since there are no impressed nubmers yet. It is hand painted with a superb Kakiemon design including two cranes or herons, a bird flying above, a butterfly as well as lots of flowers. One of the more fun motives I have seen in a long time. The plate is 1.125 inches tall and 8.375 inches in diameter. It is marked underneath with the early Meissen blue crossed swords in under glaze blue. The dish is in great condition with almost no wear to the design but there are five small chips to the rim as shown in both above and below the rim views. That is a fairly easy fix and since the colors are superb and there are no hairlines thisis an ideal canditate for restoration. It does display nicely as is off course. The Kakiemon colors of these early plates are amazing! Please email me for more information or other pictures.
