Kaendler Dog

This is a rare dog figurine of a King Charles Spaniel made by Meissen in the 18th century. He is very well modelled (by Kaendler) and well painted. The difference to more modern Meissen dogs of this type is obvious. He even has the paws modelled underneath. A heavy figurine with just the typical one air hole underneath. Marked with the underglaze blue crossed swords as shown. Also incised the model number C26. There would have been a companion piece facing the other way but I don't have him. The figurine is of a good size not tiny like most dogs. The dog is in superb condition with some of his claws broken off and some glaze skips as shown in the picture. I sold him a long time ago but still kept the pics since he was so nice. A nice reference piece to have pictures of. Please email me for more information or other pictures.
