Hot Chocolate Pot Lid

This is a superb lid to a hot chocolate pot made by Meissen in the mid 18th century. It is handpainted with a puce scene as well as lots of little bugs and flowers and a nice gold trim but the best part and likely the most useful part are the bronze mounts including the handle and the superb flower that covers the hole for the stirrer. The underside has three prongs that would make sure the lid stays in place when you pour the drink. The painting is of superb quality and the mounts have some amazing detail! The piece is 0.625 inches high and has a diameter of 3.25 inches. The inner diameter of the rim that would fit onto the pot is 2.625 inches. The lid is in superb condition with some nibbles around the edge some of which are gilded over and might be original. Nothing bad and one of the prongs has been bent so often that it will probably break the next time it is bend. Otherwise it is in top shape! Unmarked but definitely by Meissen from this period. Price is $249
