Harbor Scene Coffee Pot

This is an amazing and very early coffee pot with its original lid made by Meissen in about 1728 to 1735. Both the main pot and its lid are superbly handpainted with harbor / merchant scenes ( Kauffahrteiszenen ) and a fancy gold and puce trim. Almost certainly painted by Christian Friedrich Herold one of the top painters of the period! Rare Kakiemon style flowers as well which is unusual as the norm were the indian style flowers. The Kakieomon flowers are much nicer I think. Hard to describe a piece this fancy and superb so look at the pics to get the idea. Amazingly this piece is in perfect condition except one or two small scratches. No chips, restorations, gold wear, etc. Some manufacturing flaws like glaze misses normal to these early pieces. The piece including lid is 8.5 inches tall. Without the lid it is 6.75 inches tall. Diameter is about 4.5 inches. The pot is marked with the underglaze blue crossed swords mark from this period underneath. Both pieces also have a gilded 95. and the pot has an impressed 21 looking mark that isn't quite a 21 but might be a bossierer's mark. The lid also has a black line in it as well as something that looks like the initials BLN probably some past collector that wrote on it but they seem permanent and might be from the making which would make it rather unusual. All in all one of the best pieces I have owned. Please email me for more information or other pictures.
