Gotzkowski Flower & Butterfly Plate

This is a superb porcelain plate made by Meissen around 1740. This is the same style used for the St. Andrews Service and the Tsarina Elizabeth I of Russia Service. The plate is decorated with the Gotzkowski erhabene Blumen (raised flowers ) design in the paste around the well of the plate as well as to four sections of the rim with nice Woodcut style flowers in the center and in three areas along the rim but my favorite part is the butterfly that fills in the fourth spot. Tiny flowers and leaves to hide some firing flaws - a common practice on early Meissen pieces! Gold trim to the edge. The flowers and butterfly are top noch! The plate is in good condition with some wear to the high points and some scratches to just the central floral arrangement as shown. Gold trim has wear on the edge and there is an almost chip the foot ring underneath as shown. Displays nicely and is just stunning! The plate is 1.25 inches tall and 9.625 inches in diameter. Marked underneath with the underglaze blue crossed swords as well as an impressed number 16. Fun addition to the undeside by the mark are the leaves that hide some firing issues from the making.
