French Bulldog Figurine #2

This is a superb figurine of a dog made by Meissen during the early 20th century. I have seen this described both as a Boston terrier pup and a French Bulldog pup and since I suck at dog breeds I don't which one is true so I leave it up to the experts. Either way the figure is modelled superbly and hand painted to perfection with the rare under glaze colors Meissen used occasionally on these types of figures. A really nice version of this model with the striped fur. The coloration of the entire piece looks amazing! Nice collar to give it a little extra detail. The figure was first modeled by Erich Hösel in 1911 I believe. The figurine is in great condition with two of the toe nails being chipped as well as a tiny chip to one ear as shown. None are visible at all when on display and he displasy perfectly! It is marked underneath with the blue crossed swords mark (very faint since the udnerside is not glazed) as well as the usual impressed / incised marks and a Roman numeral II as shown. The piece is 5.5 inches tall, 2.375 inches wide and 4.5 inches long. A really superb dog figurine - one of the nicest I have seen in a while. Please email me for more information or other pictures.

Price is $999
