Floral Blotter

This is a nice blotter made by Meissen in the late 19th or early 20th century. A nicely done example with the knob part having a hand painted butterfly / bug on it and the plate two nice hand painted flowers to it. A purple one to one side and a yellow one to the other. Gold trim to finish off this ncie example! The blotter part is made of metal (probably brass) that is open to the sides. That is covered with a green blotting paper. The blotter comes apart into three pieces plus a metal dish as a spacer as I have shown in the pictures which is normal so you can attach blotter paper to it. The porcelain knob and plate are both marked underneath with the blue swords mark as shown with four cuts across them - made for use by their workers which often decorated them with their specialty so the quality is very good. It was not meant for sale but for use of the workers and to take home and give away as gifts. The entire blotter is 2.375 inches tall, 4.25 inches long and 2.125 inches wide. A really nice and rare piece! It displays nicely but does have wear to the gold trim. It would be a very ahrd to find addition to a desk set or inkwell if you have something with a similar design! Please email me for more information or other pictures.

Price is $149
