1740's Floral & Bugs Teapot

This is a very early and superb tea pot made by Meissen in about 1740-1745. The shape is superb and the decoration is top as well. The colors are a bit stronger than in the pictures in real life for some reason. There is a large floral arrangement handpainted on either side and then there are lots of bugs scattered throughout as well. From the little lady bug to the gorgeous large butterfly in the front. Nice brown trim on the spout and lid rim. The lid also has a floral arrangement as well as some bugs and a flower finial. The flowers on this piece are much more natural looking and much more detailed than later made pieces would be. The pot is in superb condition with just the bottom of the spout chipped and some very very minor damage to the finial petals and the very end of the stalk on the finial. The pot and lid are about 5.5 inches tall, 4.25 inches from front to back without the handle and spout and 4 inches wide. It is marked with the blue crossed swords mark on the unglazed bottom. This is the teapot to the rest of the set I have up on the site. Please email me for more information or other pictures.
