1740's Floral & Bugs Cup #4

This is a very early and superb cup and saucer set made by Meissen in about 1740-1745. The shape is superb and the decoration is top as well. This is the taller version of the ten cups I have for the set. Either for coffee or hot chocolate I presume. The colors are a bit stronger than in the pictures in real life for some reason. There is a large floral arrangement handpainted on the front and then there are lots of bugs and a small flower scattered throughout as well. From a little lady bug to the gorgeous large butterfly. Nice and rare handle shape as well! Nice brown trim on the rims. The flowers on these pieces are much more natural looking and much more detailed than later ones. The cup and saucer are in superb condition with just a tiny bit of flaking to the brown trim and a tiny bit of wear to one flower of the saucer. The cup is 2.75 inches tall, 2.75 inches from front to back without the handle and 2.5 inches wide. The saucer is 1.25 inches tall, 5.5 inches wide and 4.75 inches deep. Both pieces are marked with the underglaze blue crossed swords mark underneath. This is one of the cups and saucers to the rest of the set I have up on the site. Please email me for more information or other pictures.
