Ferner Hausmalerei Coffee Pot

This is a superb coffee pot made by Meissen in the 18th century. It was hand painted by them with their under glaze blue Fels und Vogel Design first and then the gilding and enamel colors were added by a Hausmaler of the shop of F.J. Ferner who was a Thuringian artist and is quite famous! Quite collectable! The best part is the lady wearing a fancy dress in a small landscape right on the bottom on the side of the spout as shown. One rarely sees a coffee pot done by him - teapots are much more common! The pot is in great condition with a small area of damage to the glae as shown to one side of the piece. The lid has sadly had a large piece broken off and repaired. A good enough job for display but could be improved upon. The piece with the lid in place is 9.5 inches tall and about 5 inches in diameter. The pot is marked with the under glaze blue crossed swords mark with the gold letter M. under it, a blue 27. along the edge and the usual impressed marks one finds on Meissen after 1740.
