Superb Under Glaze Blue Design Plate

This is a very nice early plate made by Meissen in about 1750. It is hand painted in under glaze blue which is not something you come across all that often from this period. It has a superb floral arrangement in the center with three flowers with their leaves along the edge but my favorite thing are all the bugs scattered around the plate especially the butterfly and caterpillar! It has a nicely shaped rim as well. The piece is marked with the straight blue crossed swords mark underneath with the blue painter's mark in between the top ends as well as an impressed number 20 as shown. The piece is in superb condition with some use marks to the glaze, some tiny stray blue paint dots and some glaze impurities and skips especially around the edge normal to these early pieces. The plate is 1.375 inches tall and has a diameter of 9.875 inches. A stunning piece that is different from the colored pieces one sees much more often! Please email me for more information or other pictures.
