Cafe au Lait Cup & Saucer

This is a great cup and saucer made by Meissen in about 1740 still after the Chinese design which later turned into the Strawflower design. The set is handpainted in underglaze blue with flowers and a nice rim design but my favorite part is that the outside has a ribbed relief design which is colored in the cafe-au-lait (milk coffee) hue. Amazingly the set is in great condition after all theese years with just a minor flea bite to the edge of the cup. The cup is 1.625 inches tall and 2.875 inches in diameter. The saucer is 0.875 inches tall and 4.75 inches in diameter. They are both marked with the underglaze blue crossed swords mark that are straight with the dot at the ends as well as a blue painter's mark and an impressed number. Please email me for more information or other pictures.
