1740 Scenic Saucer with Double Red Trim

This is a really nice early saucer made by Meissen in about 1740. It is superbly hand painted with a superb scene scene in the center surrounded by a double red line trim and a gold trim to the edge. The scene is a bit unusual as is seems to be a winter or at least late fall scene with the colors of the trees and building muted while the figures are as colorful as they normally would be. Really a very nice look! Three red rings and a gold trim to the underside as well - a sure sign of quality and being an early piece. The scene appears to have been painted by Christian Friedrich Herold by what I can figure out. The saucer is in perfect condition with some very minor wear mainly to the gold trim on the edge. The white spot and weird dark stuff next to the tree trunk were dirt I just removed. Didn't realize it until I took the pictures that it was there. The piece is 0.875 inches tall and has a diameter of 4.625 inches. It is marked underneath with the underglaze blue crossed swords mark as well as a gold D and an impressed number. Please email me for more information or other pictures.
