Early Fruit Scene Cup W/Puce Scale Trim

This is superb single cup made by Meissen in about 1740. It is hand painted with a large fruit and flower arrangement to the front with some cherries and a gooseberry filling the rest of the area but my favorite part is the superb puce scale trim to the top edge with yellow and blue scrolls to the bottom edge of it as well as a flower and two leaves coming off it into the white area of the cup. Superb handle shape highlighted with a touch of gilding. A stunning little piece that is sadly missing its saucer but one can always hope :) The piece is in superb condition with wear to the gold trim along the top edge as well as the handle. Some minor use marks to the inside. The piece is about 2.625 inches tall and 2.75 inches in diameter and is marked with the under glaze blue crossed swords mark of this period. No impressed number yet so a nice early piece. Please email me for more information or other pictures.

Price is $399
