Set of 12 Fruit Knives

This is a set of twelve fruit knives with porcelain handles made in Germany in the mid to late 19th century. Richard Briggs began his retailer business in 1798 and stayed at their original location until 1902 and made two moves after this date and I think they closed in the 1940's but I am unsure about that date. Seems like their heyday was from the mid to late 19th century. The knives are made of brass (I think) and the handles are made of porcelain that was hand painted with strewn flowers. The quality is easily good enough for them to have been made at Meissen but they could also be a top Dresden maker and it is hard to know for sure without a mark. They are of unusual quality for fruit knives and the blades are much nicer than most I have seen so I do lean towards Meissen but I am unsure if he retailed Meissen pieces. The set comes in it's original box which bears the retailer's label on the inside lid. There are twelve knives and each knife is about 7.25 inches long of which 3.125 inches is visible porcelain. The handles are 0.875 inches at the widest part. 9 of the knives are in perfect conditon while 3 have a crack as shown. The cracked pieces still look nice in the box but I wouldn't use them but nine are usually more than enough :) There is a bit of wear to the gilding near the beginning of the handle. The box is in great shape but shows it's age as can be expected. Please e-mail me for more information or photos.
