Crocus Service Single Cup

This is a great cup made by Meissen in the late 19th century or early 20th century. It was designed in 1896 by Konrad Hentschel who is more famous for his Hentschel children figurines but also quite famous for some of his dish designs! He won a competition for a new design of a service and this is what he came up with. Pretty amazing but sadly also very rare and hard to find! This piece is from the original period which is always a plus! It is hand painted with the crocus pattern in under glaze colors - very much in the Art Nouveau / Jugendstil flair of this period! Really a simple design but you try coming up with it ;) Looks stunning just wish I had the proper saucer to go with it but I am sure it is out there waiting! The cup is in perfect condition and marked with the under glaze blue crossed swords mark underneath, an under glaze blue number 52 (I think) as well as the usual impressed numbers as shown. It is 3.5 inches tall and 2.25 inches in diameter. Please email me for more information or other pictures.

Price is $599
