Chinoiserie Plate

This is a porcelain plate made by Meissen around 1780 in the Marcolini period. It is handpainted with a superb Chinoiserie scene of amazing quality and color almost as good as the original ones from the early 18th century. It has strong colors and a nice design be it a bit funny since the male looks more Chinese while the lady looks Japanese. There is also a small dog in the front a colorful palm tree to the right and some nice birds and insects on top. The scene is surrounded by a fancy gold trim and the reticulated rim also has gold highlights. All in all a very stunning plate! This plate is in great condition with a big black firing spot in the back which is the cause of it being a second quality piece, a tiny bit of wear and a short hairline to the rim which cannot grow and is perfectly stable. The plate still rings true despite the hairline! The plate is 1 inch tall and 9.125 inches in diameter. Marked underneath with the underglaze blue crossed swords with the star underneath as well as two impressed number 12s, a blue 4 and some blue dots as well as an incised number 62.
