Cherub in Disguise Pantalone Figurine

This is a fun figurine of a cherub disguised as Pantalone the famous commedia dell'arte series made by Meissen in the 20th century. One does not come across the cherbus in disguise figures very often and to ahve one as the commedia character Pantalone aka Pantaloon is just superb. He is one of the most important principal characters of the Italian commedy - a greedy character from the high society that signifies money in the commedia dell arte . Why would a cherub want to be him !? :) The piece here was originally modeled by the famous Kändler in the 18th century. Nicely modeled wearing his usual outfit of black pants and a red jacket with the typical long beard and skull cap. Cherub wings in the back. The base has a flower applied to it as well as a leaf and has the typical relief scrolls around the front highlighted with gilding. Very nicely modeled and hand painted as one would expect from the top maker. The figurine is in perfect condition. It is 3.75 inches tall, 1.75 inches wide and 2 inches deep. The figure is marked with the under glaze crossed swords mark underneath the base as well as the usual impressed / incised numbers and a painter's mark 22. in black as shown. First choice off course.
