Male Cherub in Disguise Figurine

This is a great little figurine made by Meissen in about 1760. From the Amor / Cupid in disguise series - a cherub meant to be a pilgrim / wanderer with his walking stick. Oddly enough this one comes in different versions with the walking stick in the opposite hand sometimes. There are about 80 of these figures made by Kaendler / Acier all of cupids in different occupations. A really nice little figurine! A little later than the original 1750s pieces but still early and quite nice. He is wearing a black hat and collar with pink shell designs attached to it, a yellow little bow to the front of his neck, a walking stick and pouch in his left hand and a container with a slit in it in his right hand. Maybe for begging? Wings to the back nicely painted with feathers and a typical base with scrolls all around highlighted with gilding. A really nice figurine that is in good condition with some chips to his hat as shown as well as the top of the walking stick and the putple band of the pouch. Touch of wear but he displays very nicely! The bottom of the base is flat which is typical for these early pieces. Hint of the blue crossed swords mark to the back of the base but impossible to make out. I am ssume it is the one with the dot between the bottom looking at the style. The figurine is 3.875 inches tall, 1.625 inches wide and 1.625 inches deep. Please email me for more information or other pictures.
