1750 Casserole Dish

This is a rare early lidded casserole dish made by Meissen in about 1750. One never sees these from the early period they are usually late 18th century or newer. The dish is nicely handpainted with some floral arrangements and single flowers on both the lid and the bottom piece as well as some nice gold trim, a superb floral finial and a nice handle. The flowers are still heavily influenced by the woodcut style so it dates right around 1740 to 1750. The piece is in superb condition with wear to the gilding on the top rim of the bottom piece hidden when the lid is in place and maybe a minor chip or two to the finial which is in amazing condition! About as perfect as they come!! The circular part is 3.25 inches tall including the finial and has a diameter of 4.75 inches. The handle sticks out about 2.5 inches. It is marked with the underglaze blue crossed swords of the period underneath as shown. Please email me for more information or other pictures.
