Miniature Cafe au Lait Cup & Saucer

This is a rare early miniature cup and saucer made by Meissen in about 1740 still after the Chinese design which later turned into the Strawflower design. The set is handpainted in underglaze blue with flowers and a nice rim design but my favorite part is that the outside has a ribbed relief design which is colored in the cafe-au-lait (milk coffee) hue. Amazingly the set is in perfect condition after all theese years. The cup is 1.5 inches tall and 2.25 inches in diameter. The saucer is 0.875 inches tall and 3.875 inches in diameter. They are both marked with the underglaze blue crossed swords mark that are straight with the dot at the end as well as a blue painter's mark 4 or an H on the footring and an impressed number 59/ 16.
