Bourdaloue

This is a very rare piece made by Meissen around 1740. It is a Bourdaloue (if you don't know what it is google it :) An extremely rare piece and probably the rarest piece decorated with Schneeballen you will ever see. This shape is often confused with sauceboats which is pretty disgusting and a bit funny. The bourdaloue is superbly decorated with the tiny applied flowers handpainted in yellow and orange all around, has a superb green branch handle with leaves growing into the sides from the handle into the flowers. The top of the handle has a superbl bird on it and the top rim a gold trim. The piece is in great condition with some flowers having damage though most of it seems original to the making as some have fallen off during the first firing and were filled in by simply painting them into the voids. The bird was cleanly broken off the handle and attached back on a long time ago with a metal pin. It wiggles a bit but does the trick and would be an easy fix if one needed to improve that which I don't think is necessary. There is a small edge chip and a three way hairline as shown. Unglazed bottom with a faint crossed swords mark in it. About as early a piece of Schneeballen as one can find as they were not made until 1735. A fun and quirky piece and definitely a conversation starter :) The piece is 4 inches tall, 8 inches long and and 4.375 inches wide. Please email me for more information or other pictures.
