Bottger Porcelain Pot

This is a super early coffee pot made by Meissen in about 1713. This is as early as you can find Meissen in true white porcelain - Böttger porcelain. The piece is about as nice as you can find in terms of the early pieces since they were left in the white and just had applied decorations. In this case the pot has a superb applied floral decoration around the bottom part of the body - probably thistles by the look of it which were popular during this time as decoration. The footring has a nice robe design to it and the top has a small leaf (?) design applied to it as well as some rings in the paste. Typical early handle shape and small spout. The pot is really in great condition with two small rim chips to the top edge, the spout has the tip borken off and a firing crack to the base as shown. Some manufacturing marks, etc. which are completely normal to the early pieces! All in all a superb piece of amazing quality. Nice and white better than some later pieces one sees. Probably had a lid at some point but that is long gone. The piece is 6.75 inches tall and 4.25 inches in diameter. The pot is not marked which is completely normal on the early Meissen pieces as none were marked yet. They didn't come up with the crossed swords for a few years yet and the other earlier marks were not in use yet either. All in all one of the best pieces I have ever owned and deifnitely the earliest one can find. Please email me for more information or other pictures.
