Bird Scene Box

This is a nice lidded box made by Meissen in the 20th century. One finds the flower versions of the boxes fairly regularly but the scenic examples are much harder to come by! The piece here has a nice hand painted bird scene to the top including some flowers, a gold trim to the edges and three bugs along the side of the bottom. I especially like the dragon fly! A really nice little piece! The box is in great condition with just some very minor age realted marks and a stray gold spot near the dragon fly and an area to the inside that the glaze missed. It displays perfectly! The box is marked underneath with the under glaze blue swords mark as shown as well as the usual impressed marks. The bottom and lid together are 2.75 inches tall and 3.5 inches in diameter. Please email me for more information or other pictures.

Price is $299
