Meissen & Dresden Wall Piece

This is an odd piece of porcelain. I bought it online because it perplexed me since the painting of the Korean Lion design was so good and the figure did not match that. Now that I ahve it in my hands I know why :) It is a wall shelf / Scone type unit that is made of porcelain with a wood backing. The top part is made of a half tureen lid made by Meissen in the 18th century and hand painted with the superb Korean Lion design. That explains the quality there! The other porcelain pieces - flowers and figure have been added to it to make it pretty as a wall unit. An amazing reuse of something that would have otherwise been thrown out. Really kind of cool! It's a nice looking piece that is useful. Cannot be used with water but dried flowers, etc. would look amazing in it or if you add a piece of wood to the top it would make for a superb shelf for a figurine or such. The piece is in good condition for what it is. A few minor chips to the flowers / leaves but nothing overly bad so it really displays nicely. It's all a little loose but not going to fall apart. The wood had a worm in it in the distant past but that is long dead and not an issue. The entire piece is about 8 inches tall, 8 inches wide and 5 inches deep. Not marked. A repurposed piece long before it became a trend :) Please email me for more information or photos.
