1750 Round Box

This is an early lidded box made by Meissen in about 1750. One sees this style quite often from the 20th and once in a while from the 19th century but I have not seen one from the 18th century before. It is nicely handpainted with a floral arrangement on both the lid and the bottom piece as well as a few small flowers scattered throughout. Nice gold trim to the top part. The flowers are not quite woodcut style anymore but still heavily influenced by the old style so it dates right around 1750. The lid has a flower finial that is quite detailed. The box is in great condition with the floral finial on the lid damaged and two paint flake spots on the finial stem. The rest is perfect! The box is 3 inches tall including the finial and has a diameter of 3.375 inches. It is marked with the underglaze blue crossed swords of the 1750 period underneath. Please email me for more information or other pictures.

Price is $449
