Woodcut Floral Plate #5

This is a really nice early plate made by Meissen in about 1740. It has a nicely shaped rim with gilding on the edge, a very nice large floral arrangement in the woodcut style in the center, a few tiny scattered flowers around the well, three larger flowers along the edge as well as a tiny blossom likely there to cover up a porcelain flaw from the firing. The rim has a molded basket weave design to it which looks very nice. The flowers are still done in the early style before the Deutsche Blumen style took hold later in the 1740's. The piece is marked with the straight blue crossed swords underneath with a dot to either end and an impressed number 16. The piece is in great condition with a bit of wear to the gold trim as well as the the flowers especially the tiny ones around the edge of the well from stacking. All in all a very nice example from this period. The plate is 1.25 inches tall and has a diameter of 9.25 inches. Please email me for more information or other pictures.
