1740s Partridge Bird Figurine

This is a great bird figurine made by Meissen in the 1740s so as early as they come for this model. It is not one you see often and for some reason every time it does come up for auction it goes for over 5K so definitely a popular piece. It is superbly modeled and hand painted to perfection with lots of detail. It is standing on a fairly simple base with some applied green patches and lots of applied wheat sheaves that looks really nice. The bird itself has tons of detail to the feathers that make it look really nice. The early bird figurines are rather hard to come by. The figurine is in great condition with some chips to the wheat sheaves, a couple of minor spots of wear and the beak has the very tip chipped a bit - the splotchy looking beak is actually mostly light grey with some nice black details to it as I just found it - it is filthy. I thought it was because of wear but it is just dirt from 250 plus years. I cleaned it off now - Sorry. And with that the tiny chip to the tip is not very obvious at all anymore. The piece displays very nicely! It is not marked underneath which is not unusual for these early pieces as the undersides were unglazed. The figure is 6 inches tall, 3.25 inches wide and 5 inches deep. Please email me for more information or other pictures.
