Harbor Scene Sugar Dish Lid

This is a very rare treat - a lid for a sugar dish made by Meissen around 1740. A top of the line example even for Meissen with two large Merchant / Harbor scenes handpainted on it and lots of fancy guilding. The quality of the painting is superb as is the gilding. The figural finial is nice and rare as well though I am unsure of what it is supposed to be - a foo dog or something out of a Star Wars movie?? Now all we need is the bottom to this and we'd be having one really nice treat! Amazingly the lid is in perfect condition with a tiny mini flat chip to the ring that fits into the bottom and one tiny spot of wear to the gilding on top of the finial's head. Neither is obvious by any means! It is even marked with a gilders mark so we have about everything one could wish on a lid :) And if someone has the bottom or a damaged top it would be an easy match. The lid is about 4.25 inches wide and 3.375 inches deep. The underside rim that would fit into the sugar box bottom is 3.5 inches (o.d.) wide by just under 2.75 inches.
