Scenic Plate w/Flaw

This is a deep / soup plate made by Ludwigsburg between 1759 and 1770. It is marked with the CC mark under the crown in under glaze blue as well as the usual impressed marks as shown. The plate is 1.75 inches tall and 9.125 inches in diameter. The piece is hand painted with a superb scene in the center including a gentleman with a large basket on his back, a building and some water all in a landscape surrounding. The rim has a basketweave relief design to it called the Osier relief and there are six single flowers hand pained on it. There are two more small flwoers in the well of the plate and the scene has a nice scroll and leaf garland design underneath it. All quite typical of that period. Gold trim to the edge. The plate displays perfectly but has a crack flaw to it. Not sure if it is a hairline or manufacturing issue. It is really hard to spot and it rings perfectly when you tap it. Quite strange really. There is a touch of wear to the gold trim on the edge. Still an excellent example of their work! Please email me for more information or photos.

Price is $399
