Reticulated Floral Basket #3

This is a second basket made by Ludwigsburg in the 18th century. It is hand painted with a large floral arrangement in the center with a couple of small leaves hiding flaws, small flowers on the center line of the reticulated rim. a brown trim to the edge and a very nice relief design to the outside with puce and yellow blossom highlights in the centers. It is marked with the CC mark under the crown in under glaze blue with a red line under it denoting a second choice piece (the reason I will mention in a second). Lots of impressed / incised marks and a painter's mark R in green as shown. The painter's mark R is usually associated with the famous Ringler - one of their best if not the best painter they had! The basket is 2 inches tall, 5.625 inches deep and 6.625 inches wide. The basket is in superb condition with two spots on either side of the edge ground down slightly and painted over with the brown trim. A bit of wear to the brown trim. This basket version originally would have had handles but they had so many issues with firing them that they often had to remove them at the factory and do this. So often that this version is also shown in the complete Ludwigsburg book. So yes it is a flaw but one made at the factory and thus not really true damage. I have another matching basket on the site if anyone would be interested in a rare pair. Please email me for more information or photos.
